Many shoppers in India still prefer to pay when the parcel arrives. You decide whether to offer cash on delivery (COD), up to what amount, and where.
Switch cash on delivery on
- Open Store settings and find the Checkout section.
- Tick Accept cash on delivery.
- Press Save settings.
The same tick box also appears on the Shipping page.
Set a COD limit
Large cash orders carry more risk of refusal at the door. To limit them:
- In Store settings, under Checkout, fill in Cash on delivery up to (₹), for example 3000.
- Press Save settings.
Orders above that amount must be paid online; checkout tells the shopper. Leave the box empty for no limit. You can also set a Minimum order (₹) for every order on the same page.
COD by area
If you charge delivery by zones, each zone can allow or refuse cash on delivery. Zones outside India are always online-only. See delivery zones and charges.
Store pickup
If you offer "Pick up from the store", shoppers who choose it pay at pickup and need no address.
Handling COD orders
- COD orders appear in Orders with the payment shown as COD. The COD tab lists them, and they are counted in To ship.
- Move each order through its stages as usual. See order stages and tracking.
- If a COD customer returns an item, they give a UPI ID on the return form so you can refund them.
Orders you create yourself in the dashboard (for WhatsApp or phone sales) can be cash on delivery whatever your limit; the limit applies to shoppers at checkout.
