Fitted clothes, grip socks and no zips: a short list that saves the upholstery and your first class.

The reformer is upholstered in vinyl, and the carriage moves under you, so what you wear matters more than in most classes. Choose fitted leggings or shorts and a top that does not ride up when you lie on your back or roll forward. Loose T-shirts slide over your face in some exercises.
Leave zips, buckles, belts and metal studs at home. They scratch the carriage and the headrest, and they dig into you when you lie on them. The same goes for large rings and watches with metal straps. We have a small tray at each reformer for anything you need to take off.
Grip socks are the one thing we ask everyone to wear. They stop your feet slipping on the footbar and keep the studio cleaner. If you forget, the desk sells them for ₹650 a pair in three sizes, and we lend a clean pair once.
You do not need to bring a mat, towel or water. Every reformer has a small towel, the studio has a filtered water point and there are lockers for bags and phones. Bring a bottle if you prefer your own. Tie long hair low so it does not catch under the headrest. And come about ten minutes early: settling in and setting your springs before the class starts makes the whole fifty minutes calmer.
