Sell in your customers' own language. As well as English, your store can be shown in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
Switch a language on
- Open Languages and currencies (under Settings).
- Each language has a card. Turn on the switch for the ones you want. English is always on.
Straight away, every word the store itself says is translated: buttons and labels, the bag and checkout, delivery and payment messages, order tracking, account pages, the questions and answers and policies we write for you, and the emails shoppers get.
Translate your own words
Your product names and descriptions, collections, pages, journal, homepage text, menus and your own questions are yours to translate.
- On a language's card, press Translate.
- Your words are shown side by side with the English. Type the translation for each.
- Press Save translation.
The card shows how much of your text is translated. Anything not translated yet shows in English, so nothing is ever blank. Where Fill in the rest is offered, it translates what is missing by machine; check the result, especially product names.
How shoppers see it
- Each language has its own addresses, such as /ta/shop for Tamil, linked to each other so Google shows the right language.
- A globe at the top of every page switches language, and the choice is remembered.
- A shopper whose phone is set to a language you offer is invited to switch.
- Indian-language text uses matching Noto fonts.
Orders keep English product names for you, so packing is not affected.
Prices for shoppers abroad
On the same page, Prices for shoppers abroad can show guide prices in other currencies. Orders are still paid in rupees, which checkout says. Press Save currencies after changing it.
Start with the language most of your customers speak, and translate your best-selling products first.
