Good photos sell. Your store takes care of the technical side: every photo you upload is converted to WebP, made in a phone size, a middle size and a full size, and compressed so pages load quickly. Camera details such as location are removed.
Shape and size
- Product photos are shown in a 4:5 shape (a little taller than wide), so the main photo is cropped to 4:5. Keep your product in the middle with some space around it.
- Upload JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF files, up to 10 MB each.
- Use a large enough photo. After an upload the dashboard tells you how much space was saved and warns you about any photo that is too small to look sharp.
Add photos to one product
- Open the product in Products.
- Under Photos, choose the Main photo. The first photo is the main one, used on product cards.
- Use Add gallery photos to add up to 8 more, or Add from your library to reuse photos you have already uploaded.
- To remove a photo, untick it, then save.
Add many photos at once
- Open Products and press Bulk photos.
- Name each file after the product's web address:
silk-saree.jpgbecomes the main photo of the productsilk-saree, andsilk-saree-2.jpg,silk-saree-3.jpgare added to its gallery. A file named after a SKU also works. - Choose up to 20 photos and press Upload and match. The result lists any file that did not match a product.
The media library
Media (under Content) holds every photo you have uploaded. Each shows its size and how many times it is used. Add a short description to each photo; it helps shoppers using screen readers and helps search engines. When some photos are not used anywhere, Remove unused photos clears them in one step. Photos in products, pages, orders and your settings are always kept.
Natural daylight, a plain background and the same framing for every product make a store look professional, even with phone photos.
