Import products from a CSV file

Add or update many products at once from Excel or Google Sheets, including an export from Shopify or WooCommerce, and check a preview before saving.

Import lets you add or update many products at once from a spreadsheet saved as CSV. Nothing is saved until you have seen a preview.

1. Get the template

  1. Open Products and press Import CSV.
  2. Press Download template and open it in Excel or Google Sheets.

2. Fill in your products

  • Use one row per product, or one row per variant. Rows with the same handle are one product; the first row carries its name, description and other details.
  • handle is the product's web address, for example silk-saree. A handle that already exists updates that product; a new one adds a product. Leave it empty to make one from the name.
  • Prices are in rupees, such as 1299 or 1299.50. Leave stock empty to not count stock. status is live or hidden.
  • collections lists collection names separated by |. Missing collections are created for you.
  • For sizes and colours, fill option1_name and option1_value (up to three options) and the variant_price, variant_stock and variant_sku columns.
  • When updating, empty cells keep the product's current values.

Moving from another platform

You can start from an export from Shopify, WooCommerce or another platform. Import reads columns by their names, so map their columns to ours by renaming the header row in your spreadsheet. Names are not case-sensitive, and spaces count as underscores, so a column called "Option1 Name" already works as option1_name. For example, in a Shopify export rename Title to name, Body (HTML) to description, Variant Inventory Qty to variant_stock and Variant Compare At Price to variant_compare_at. Then:

  • Set the status column to live or hidden, or delete it.
  • Delete rows that only hold an extra photo; every variant row needs its option values.
  • Tidy descriptions that contain web code; descriptions are plain text.

3. Check, then import

  1. Save as CSV (up to 2 MB). Under CSV file, choose it and press Check the file.
  2. Read Check before importing: new products, updated products, variants and any problems, each with its line number.
  3. Rows with problems are skipped. Fix them and check again, or press Import to bring in the rest.

4. Add photos

Use Bulk photos and name each file after the handle, for example silk-saree.jpg and silk-saree-2.jpg. See product photos.

Imports count toward your plan's product limit: 20 on Starter, 100 on Growth, 1,000 on Pro.
