Visiting us after the Golden Temple

How to get from the Harmandir Sahib to Lawrence Road, and what else is worth seeing on the way.

Most visitors to our shop come in the afternoon after a morning at the Golden Temple, and the journey is simple. An e-rickshaw from the Heritage Street end costs about ₹80 and takes 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic around Hall Bazaar. Ask for Novelty Chowk on Lawrence Road; we are three doors from the chowk.

If you walk out through Hall Gate, the old bazaars on the way are worth an hour. Katra Jaimal Singh is the cloth market, good for plain suit fabric to pair with a phulkari dupatta. The lanes around Hall Bazaar sell juttis, papad and wadiyan, and the kulchas near the gate are worth stopping for.

The best time to visit the shop is between 3 and 6 pm on a weekday. Weekends are busy, especially in the wedding months from October to February. If you are coming in a group, or want to see the full baghs, which we keep wrapped, send us a WhatsApp message in the morning and we will have them laid out.

We can ship anything you buy to your home address so you do not need to carry it. Overseas visitors often do this; delivery to the UK or Canada takes about ten days. Within India, parcels leave the same evening.
