Cloth, making, trims and fittings: a breakdown of a ₹68,000 three-piece suit.

A bespoke suit can seem expensive next to a ready-made one, and it is. We think it helps to see where the money goes, so here is a typical three-piece suit in a mid-weight worsted.
Cloth is the biggest single variable. A three-piece needs about 3.5 metres. A good worsted from an Indian mill costs ₹3,500 to ₹5,000 a metre; an imported cloth can be ₹8,000 to ₹15,000. On this suit, cloth is about ₹16,000. Trims come next: the horsehair canvas, pocketing, lining, buttons and thread. Real horn buttons and a cupro lining come to about ₹6,000.
Making is the largest share. A half-canvas three-piece takes around 50 hours across our cutter, coat maker, trouser maker, finishers and presser, with three fittings in between. Making and fittings come to about ₹38,000. The rest, roughly ₹8,000, covers the rooms, the pattern we draft and keep, and a year of free alterations and pressing.
You can bring the price down by choosing a different cloth, a two-piece instead of three, or half canvas instead of full. You cannot bring it down by asking us to skip a fitting; that is where a bespoke suit earns its price. Your quote lists each of these lines separately, so you can decide.
