An hour, a tape measure and a lot of questions: what to bring, what we look at and what you leave with.

Most people arrive at their first appointment expecting a quick measurement. It takes about an hour, and the tape measure is only part of it.
We begin by asking what the piece is for: a wedding in December, a suit for court, shirts for an office that has stopped wearing ties. Then our cutter takes 28 measurements, standing and seated, and notes how you stand. Most people carry one shoulder lower than the other, lean slightly forward, or have a fuller seat or a flatter back. These notes matter more than the numbers, because they decide how the pattern is drafted.
It helps to wear the shirt and shoes you would wear with the finished piece, and to bring a jacket you like and one you do not. We learn a lot from what you already own. Next comes cloth. We will show you three or four bunches suited to what you have described, and explain the weight, weave and how each will wear in Delhi. You can take swatches home.
You leave with a written quote listing cloth, making and any extras, and a date for the first fitting. Nothing is cut until you approve the quote and pay the advance. If you decide not to go ahead, the appointment costs nothing.
