Fabrics, juttis, bangles and lunch: how to plan a fitting weekend around the old city’s bazaars.

Many of our brides fly or drive into Jaipur for their fittings and want to finish the rest of their wedding shopping in the same trip. With a little planning, one fitting weekend can cover a great deal.
Book your fitting for the morning, at 11 am when we open. Fittings take about ninety minutes, and you will have your measurements and colours fresh in mind when you head into the old city afterwards. Bring swatches; we cut small pieces of your lehenga fabric for you to carry.
For juttis and mojaris, walk through Bapu Bazaar, where you can have a pair embroidered to match your outfit in about a week. For lac bangles in your exact shade, go to Maniharon ka Rasta near Tripolia Bazaar and watch them being made over a coal stove. Johari Bazaar is the place for jewellery, though we suggest you visit only after your outfit design is fixed.
If you need fabric for family outfits, Kishanpole Bazaar has bandhej and leheriya dupattas by the metre, and Chaura Rasta has lining, tassels and lace. Take an auto between bazaars; parking in the walled city is difficult after noon. Stop for lunch and rest in the afternoon heat, especially from March to June. Shops in the old city stay open late, so evening is often the best time for the second half of your list. If you would like a short list of the lanes our own brides use, ask at your fitting.
