Kanjira
A kanjira with a 7-inch jackwood frame, a goat-skin head and one pair of brass jingles. Light and quick, it suits the tani avartanam at a concert or a temple bhajan. Each frame is shaped from a single slice of wood; the skin is glued and dried for a week.
