Where your ₹38,000 goes, what is included, and the few extras worth budgeting for.

Our week-long surf stay costs ₹38,000 per person on a twin-share basis. People sometimes ask how that compares with booking lessons and a room separately, so here is the breakdown.
The largest part is lessons and coaching: a three-day beginner course or the five-morning coaching week, which would cost ₹6,000 to ₹11,500 on their own, plus a river paddle lesson worth ₹1,800 and two hours of free board rental for practice.
The room is seven nights in our surf house, two minutes from the beach, with a fan, an attached bathroom and clean towels every other day. Breakfasts and dinners are cooked in our kitchen: dosa, neer dosa, fish curry, rice and vegetables from the Mulki market. Lunch is not included, because most people sleep or eat at the beach shacks.
Airport pickup and drop from Mangaluru, about 40 minutes away, is included. So is the daily surf report, a video coaching review at the end of the week and a photo set from one of your sessions. What to budget for on top: lunches, around ₹250 to ₹400 a day; a single room supplement of ₹9,000 if you want one; extra board rental if you surf in the afternoons; and a trip to Udupi or the temples nearby on your rest day. GST applies to the stay.
