Rinse, shade and a soft bag: small habits that keep a board in good condition for years.

Salt, sun and sand are hard on a surfboard. Whether you rent from us or bring your own, a few habits make a real difference.
Rinse the board with fresh water after every session, including the fins and leash. Salt crystals dry into the deck and the leash cord and wear them out. We keep a tap and a drum by the board rack for this. Keep it out of the sun. A board left on hot sand or on a car roof for an afternoon can delaminate, which means the outer layer lifts away from the foam. Lay it in the shade, deck down, or put it in a bag. Never leave a board in a closed car in Mangaluru heat.
Carry it under your arm with the fins facing your body, or on your head, and put it down gently. Most dings happen on land, not in the water. If you see a crack in the outer skin of a hard board, stop using it until it is repaired, because water seeps into the foam and makes it heavy.
Wax goes on the deck of hard boards so your feet grip. Use a cool-water wax, which suits our sea, and scrape it off and reapply every few weeks. Soft-tops do not need wax. If you own a board, our coaches can show you how to wax and fix small dings yourself.
