Five minutes, a sheet of paper and a ruler will tell you more than the size printed in your old shoes.

Feet change. They widen with age, swell in the heat and differ from each other, sometimes by a full size. The number inside your old shoes tells you what fitted once, not what fits now.
Measure in the evening, when your feet are at their largest. Stand on a sheet of paper with your weight on the foot, and ask someone to trace around it with a pencil held upright. Do both feet.
Measure the length from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe, which is not always the big toe. Then measure the width across the widest part, usually the ball of the foot. Write both numbers down in centimetres.
Match the longer foot to our size chart. If your width is above the medium range, choose wide or extra-wide rather than going up a size; a bigger shoe will be loose at the heel and still tight at the toes. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the tracing on WhatsApp.
