They look alike on a hanger and wear very differently. A short guide to the three.

All three have a standing collar and no lapels, and people use the names loosely. In our workroom they mean different things.
A bandhgala is a full tailored jacket with a closed stand collar, long sleeves and the structure of a suit jacket: canvas in the chest, shaped shoulders and a lining. It reaches the hip. It is formal enough for a wedding or a state dinner, and it is usually worn with matching or tonal trousers.
A Jodhpuri is a bandhgala worn with jodhpur trousers, which are full at the hip and close from the knee down, cut originally for riding. The set has a stronger, more ceremonial look and suits a groom or a close family member at a day function. It needs one more fitting than a plain bandhgala, because the trousers must sit right with the shoes.
A Nehru jacket is sleeveless or nearly so, lighter, and worn over a kurta. It is less formal, quicker to make and good for a pooja, a mehendi or a dinner where a full jacket would be too much. If you are unsure, think about the evening. Standing and dancing for five hours suits a bandhgala in a light wool and mohair. A long ceremony in daylight suits a Jodhpuri. A family lunch suits a Nehru jacket.
