Membership, gloves, wraps and the optional extras: a plain budget for a first year of boxing or strength training.

Before joining a gym it helps to know what a year will really cost, including the things that are not on the price list. Here is a typical first year for a member who comes three times a week.
Most beginners start with boxing fundamentals: eight classes for ₹3,200. After that, they move to a monthly membership. Boxing members usually pay ₹2,800 a month, the same as the strength membership. Over the remaining eleven months, with a 30-day pause for a holiday, that comes to about ₹28,000.
Kit is the next cost. Hand wraps cost ₹300 to ₹450 a pair, and most people own two. Gloves start at around ₹2,200 for a decent pair, and if you take up sparring, a second pair of 16 oz gloves and a mouthguard add about ₹3,500. Training shoes you probably already own. Budget about ₹3,000 for kit in the first year, or ₹6,500 if you spar.
Extras are optional. A block of 12 personal training sessions costs ₹14,400, and a one-on-one pad session with a fight coach is ₹1,500. Many members book a pad session once a month to sharpen technique, which adds ₹15,000 a year. A typical first-year total, without personal training, is therefore around ₹34,000, or under ₹100 a day. We have no joining fee, no lock-in and no sales calls. You can pause up to 30 days a year at no cost.
