Wipe-downs between classes, a weekly deep clean and the rules we ask every member to follow.

A boxing gym is a place full of sweat, and it can easily become a place full of germs. Skin infections spread through shared gloves, mats and equipment. Here is what we do at Khadak to keep the floor clean, and what we ask from members.
Between every class, the coach on duty and one staff member wipe down the ring ropes, the mats in the class area and all handles on the heavy bags with a disinfectant spray. This takes about ten minutes, which is why there is a 15-minute gap between classes on the timetable. Lending gloves are sprayed inside, wiped outside and left to dry on a rack with a fan for at least two hours before anyone uses them again.
Once a week, on Sunday after the 8 pm class, the whole floor is mopped with disinfectant, the lifting platforms cleaned, the showers scrubbed and the dehumidifiers emptied. Headgear and lending pads are washed by hand. Every month we inspect all lending gloves and throw away any with torn linings.
From members we ask four things. Wear clean clothes and socks to every session. Cover any cut or scrape with a plaster before training. Wipe down the bench or bar you use with the sprays placed around the floor. And if you have a skin rash or infection, stay off the mats until it has cleared. Coaches will turn members away from sparring if they have open wounds.
