Customers often ask which is better for them. What pressing changes, what it does not, and how we suggest enjoying both.

We run a juice bar, so you might expect us to say juice is always the better choice. It is not that simple, and our customers deserve a straight answer.
When you press a fruit, the juice keeps most of the water, the natural sugar and much of the flavour. What stays behind is most of the fibre, which is in the pulp, the pith and the skin. A glass of orange juice holds the juice of three or four oranges, which you can drink in a minute. Eating three or four oranges takes much longer, and the fibre makes you feel full.
That is why we suggest thinking of juice as a fresh drink rather than a replacement for fruit. It is a far better drink than a bottle of soda or a packet of juice with added sugar, and it is a pleasant way to enjoy fruit in the heat. But it is not the same as eating the fruit itself.
A few habits help. Ask for your orange or mosambi with pulp; we leave it in by default. Choose a 250 ml glass rather than 350 ml if you drink juice daily. Try a vegetable juice like ABC, which is less sweet. And keep eating whole fruit too. If you have a health condition, such as diabetes, please ask your own doctor how juice fits into your diet; we can tell you what is in the glass, not what suits your body.
