When to order so a ring or pair of studs is ready in time, and what tends to sell out in October and November.

Two stretches of the year keep our workshop busy: the weeks before Dhanteras and Diwali, and the wedding season that follows from late November to February. If you are buying for either, the calendar matters as much as the stone.
For Dhanteras, many families want a small piece bought on the day itself. That works for stock items such as diamond studs or a pendant, which we keep ready in common sizes. If you want a ring made to size, place the order by the end of September and collect it on Dhanteras; we can keep it ready and hand it over that day. Custom designs need three to four weeks and should be started earlier still.
Wedding orders are larger and often more involved: an engagement ring, a pair of earrings for the bride, sometimes a men’s ring. Start six to eight weeks before the engagement date. Matched pairs of stones for earrings take the longest to find, because both stones must agree in colour, size and sparkle. In our experience, pairs between 0.25 ct and 0.40 ct each are the first to run short in November.
Two practical points. Gold prices often move during the festive season, and we bill the gold at the rate on the day the piece is finished, which we tell you in advance. And if a stone is reserved for you, we keep it aside in a named parcel so it cannot be shown to anyone else while you decide.
