Booking early, fixing the rate and choosing smaller pieces: how to plan festival gold in Jaipur.

Two days in the year fill Johari Bazaar more than any other: Akshaya Tritiya in late April or May, and Dhanteras two days before Diwali. Families buy gold on these days for luck, and many plan wedding jewellery around them. A little planning makes the day calmer.
Book ahead. On both days our showroom is full from opening till late night. If you want a particular piece, choose it in the week before, pay a small advance and collect it on the day itself. We hold the piece with your name on it. For made-to-order pieces, place the order six to eight weeks in advance so they are ready.
Ask about the rate. Gold rates often rise in the days before a festival. If you pay a part of the value early, we can fix the gold rate on that date for the booked weight, written on your receipt. Making charges and GST are added when you collect.
Choose sensibly for the occasion. Most families buy something small and meaningful on Dhanteras: a pair of kundan studs, a gold coin for the pooja, or a maang tikka for a daughter. Bridal sets are better chosen without a crowd. If you are buying for a wedding later in the year, the festival is a good day to pay the booking advance and finish the design calmly afterwards. And please park outside the walled city; Johari Bazaar is closed to cars by evening on both days.
