Flights, trains, coaches and the last few hundred metres. A practical guide for families with guests from all over.

Udaipur is easy to reach, but the old city around the haveli is a maze of steep, narrow lanes. A little planning saves your guests a lot of confusion.
Most guests arrive by air at Maharana Pratap Airport, about 24 kilometres from the haveli. In traffic, allow fifty minutes. There are direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Jaipur. Trains arrive at Udaipur City station, around twenty minutes away. Guests driving from Ahmedabad should allow five hours.
The last stretch is the tricky part. Large cars and coaches cannot enter the lanes near Gangaur Ghat. We arrange for guest coaches to stop at a parking area about 400 metres away, where our electric buggies take guests and luggage to the door. For the main days we run them continuously.
If guests are staying in other hotels, the simplest options are e-rickshaws for short hops and a boat across the lake for hotels on the other bank, which is often quicker than the road and a pleasant arrival in itself. We send every family a one-page travel note to forward to guests: how to reach the parking, a map of the lanes, our coordinator’s number and the timings for buggies on each day. It saves dozens of phone calls on the wedding morning.
