Who we are

A lakeside haveli, yours for three days.

Mehtab Chowk was built around 1790 by a family of cloth merchants on the slope above Gangaur Ghat. We spent eleven years restoring it with lime plaster, local masons and the original carvings, and opened it for weddings in 2016.

Four courtyards, a rooftop over Lake Pichola, twenty-two rooms and our own kitchen, booked by one family at a time. A site visit takes about an hour: every courtyard, the rooftop at the hour you would use it, a room and a tasting plate from the kitchen. No charge.

What we stand for

Three things we will not change

01

One family at a time

We never host two weddings on the same dates. The whole haveli is yours for the days you book.

02

The house comes first

We restore with lime, not cement, and plan décor that does not nail, glue or burn anything old.

03

A clear quote

Venue, rooms and per-plate catering are listed separately, and the price holds once you pay the deposit.

Walk through it before you decide.

Our story so far

Mehtab Chowk Haveli, year by year

  1. 1790

A merchant’s house above Gangaur Ghat

A family of cloth merchants built the haveli around four courtyards, with a rooftop looking across Lake Pichola.

  2. 1962

    Divided and let out

The family moved to Ahmedabad. Rooms were let to tenants and the painted hall was used for storing grain.

  3. 2005

    Eleven years of restoration

We bought the house and restored it slowly with lime plaster, local masons and the carvings that had survived.

  4. Today

    One wedding at a time

Twenty-two rooms, a kitchen of fourteen cooks and about forty weddings a season, never two on the same dates.

What customers say

Sample reviews, written for this demo. Real customer reviews replace them on your store.

We booked the whole haveli for three nights. Our families were under one roof, and the rooftop sangeet with the palace lit up behind us is in every photo.

The Mewari thali dinner was the thing our guests talked about. Staff kept refilling the dal baati until everyone gave up.
Sanjana K. · Ahmedabad
It rained on the wedding day. They moved the pheras into the darbar hall in under two hours and it looked as if it had been planned that way.
