Your decorator, caterer and guests share a 230-year-old building for three days. Our house rules, and why they exist.

A wedding brings more than three hundred people, a dozen vendors and several tonnes of décor into a building that was finished in 1790. Most of it goes smoothly because everyone knows the house rules before they arrive.
We ask for no nails, screws, tape or glue on any wall, pillar or carved surface. Decorators hang drapes from the steel frames we provide in each courtyard, or from free-standing structures. Our team checks every installation before a function.
No open flames under painted ceilings or close to carved wood. Diyas and candles are welcome in courtyards and on the lawn, in glass holders, and our staff light and put them out. The havan for the pheras happens in the open courtyard, on a raised copper base we provide. No fireworks or sky lanterns at all. Sparks and old timber do not mix, and the neighbours’ roofs are a few metres away. Cold-spark fountains on the lawn are allowed.
Heavy set pieces go on the lawn and in the main courtyard, where the floors rest on rock. The rooftop and the upper floors have weight limits, which we share with your decorator in writing. None of this stops a beautiful wedding. It simply means the house will be here, in the same state, for the next family and, we hope, for your anniversary visit.
