Lanes for a walk, a park for a bench and where to park: a short local guide to our part of Pune.

Most of our guests come to Koregaon Park for dinner and leave straight after. That is a pity, because the area is one of the pleasanter parts of Pune to walk in the evening, especially between October and February.
If you arrive early, park on North Main Road before 7 pm, when spaces are still easy to find, and walk the numbered lanes off it. Lanes 5, 6 and 7 are shaded by old rain trees and gulmohars, with bungalows behind low walls and small cafés and bookshops in between. It is quiet enough to talk, and the air is noticeably cooler under the trees.
For a longer walk, head down to the Bund Garden side, where a path runs along the Mula-Mutha river. It is busiest at sunset with walkers and families. On weekends, the lanes around Lane 7 and South Main Road have small evening markets with plants, clothes and crafts.
After dinner, Koregaon Park gets busy with traffic until about 10.30 pm, so allow time if you are heading towards Kharadi or the airport. Auto-rickshaws wait at the corner of Lane 6, and our staff can call one for you. If you have children with you, the small park near the end of Lane 5 has swings and is lit until late. And if you have eaten too much pizza, a slow loop of the lanes before you get back in the car is the best digestif we know.
