Reading your treatment estimate: what each line costs

Root canal, crown, X-rays and follow-ups: how a typical estimate at Smitrekha is built up, item by item.

Every plan at Smitrekha comes with a written estimate before any treatment starts. Here is how one is built up, using a common example: a back tooth with a deep cavity that needs a root canal and a crown.

The check-up comes first: ₹500 for the examination and the written plan. A digital X-ray of the tooth is ₹250 per image, and a root canal usually needs two or three, one at the start, one to check the length of each canal, and one at the end. So expect ₹500 to ₹750 for X-rays.

The root canal itself, by Dr Rohan, is ₹7,500 for a molar, ₹5,500 for a front tooth. It covers the anaesthesia, cleaning and shaping each canal with rotary files, and filling the canals. Molars have three or four canals, which is why they cost more and can take two visits. After the root canal, a molar usually needs a crown. Our zirconia crown is ₹9,500, including a temporary crown, the scan and the second visit to fit it.

So the full estimate for this tooth comes to about ₹18,000 to ₹18,250. What is not on it: follow-up visits within the treatment, which are free, and any extra treatment we did not expect, which we always discuss and write down before doing. Plans above ₹20,000 can be paid by card EMI or in stages. If an estimate seems high, ask us which items can wait; we will tell you honestly.
