Which sweets survive a long wedding day in a cloth bag, how much to plan per guest, and when to place the order.

Every wedding in Coimbatore ends with the thamboolam bag: betel leaves, a coconut or fruit, a small gift and a packet of sweets. The sweet is the part guests open first, and the part that goes wrong most often in the heat.
Choose a sweet that holds its shape without a fridge. Mysore pak, motichoor laddoo, kaju katli and badam barfi travel well in a cloth bag for a full day. Avoid milk sweets like malai peda or rasgulla; by evening, in a warm hall and a warmer car, they turn soft and sour. Jangiri is lovely fresh but sticky in a bag unless it is packed in its own box.
For quantity, most families give one small box per family rather than per guest. A 100 g box holds three or four pieces and costs about ₹70 to ₹110, depending on the sweet. For 600 families, plan for 650 boxes; extra relatives always arrive. A mixed box of two sweets, such as one laddoo and two pieces of Mysore pak, looks generous without costing much more.
Order at least ten days before the wedding, and two weeks in the muhurtham months of Thai, Vaikasi and Avani. We make thamboolam sweets the day before the wedding, never earlier, and deliver them packed in cartons of 50, so your relatives can fill the bags the night before. Tell us the hall and the time, and we deliver to the hall itself.
