Room, meals, a day trip and transport from Kochi: a realistic budget for a couple staying with us in the high season.

Couples planning their first trip to Munnar often ask us for a total figure rather than room rates. Here is a realistic budget for two people staying three nights with us in the cool season, from September to February.
The room is the largest part. Our estate view room is ₹4,800 a night including breakfast for two, so three nights is ₹14,400. In the monsoon, from June to September, the same room is ₹3,900 a night, or ₹11,700.
Meals come next. Most guests eat dinner with us every night, at ₹650 a person, which is ₹3,900 for two people over three nights. Lunch can be at the homestay for ₹450 a person, or in Munnar town or along the way for roughly ₹300 to ₹600 for two. Allow about ₹2,500 for lunches, snacks and tea outside.
For activities, the guided tea estate walk is ₹600 a person and the estate tea tasting ₹450. A day trip by taxi to Eravikulam National Park, the dams and the viewpoints costs about ₹2,500 to ₹3,500 for the car, plus entry fees, which are set by the authorities and change from time to time. The sunrise viewpoint trip is ₹3,200 for a jeep that seats six, so it costs less if other guests share. Transport from Kochi by taxi is ₹4,200 each way. In total, a comfortable three-night trip for two comes to roughly ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 in the cool season, including transport. Taking the bus to Munnar and our free pickup can reduce that by about ₹7,500.
