How we price a tattoo

Size matters, but time matters more. What goes into a quote, from ₹4,500 for script to ₹22,000 for a forearm.

We price by the design, not by the square inch, but the design is mostly a measure of time. A fine-line script of 8 cm takes about an hour and starts at ₹4,500. A palm-sized botanical piece with shading takes around two hours and starts at ₹8,500. A solid blackwork forearm can take five hours and starts at ₹22,000.

Our minimum is ₹4,500. Even a tiny tattoo needs a fresh station, new needles, ink caps, film, gloves and the cleaning between clients, and the setup takes as long for a small piece as a large one. That is why a small heart costs more than you might expect.

Colour usually costs more than black and grey of the same size, because each colour is packed in separately and takes longer. Cover-ups cost more than fresh skin, because the new design has to be drawn around the old one and is usually larger. Large pieces are split into sessions of four to five hours, priced together at the start.

Your quote includes the drawing, one round of changes, the tattoo itself, a printed aftercare card and one free touch-up within three months. It does not change on the day unless you change the design. If someone quotes you far below this for the same piece, ask how long they will take and what they will open in front of you.

Can that old tattoo be covered?

A cover-up is not a magic eraser. Here is when it works, when a rework is better and what to expect.
