Your first site visit: what to ask us

An hour at the haveli answers most questions. Here is how to use it, and what to bring with you.

Most families visit the haveli at least once before booking, and many come twice: once alone, once with parents. A site visit is free and takes about an hour. Here is how to make the most of it. Come at the time of day you plan to hold your main function, if you can. The main courtyard looks very different at noon and at eight in the evening. If your sangeet will be on the rooftop at sunset, ask to see it then.

Bring a rough guest count for each function, your preferred dates and a second choice, and any family requirements you know about: a Jain kitchen, an elderly grandparent who cannot manage stairs, a priest who needs the mandap facing a certain direction.

Ask us the practical things. Where do guests park, and how far is the walk? What happens if it rains? Which rooms suit older relatives? What time must amplified music end? Where will your decorator set up, and how many hours do they get before a function?

We will walk you through every courtyard, the rooftop, the hall and at least one room, and sit you down in the kitchen with a tasting plate. You will leave with our floor plans, our house rules for décor and a draft quote for your dates. Take a few days with it; we will hold the dates for a week without a deposit.
