What happens in a free trial class

Sixty minutes on a Saturday: what your child does, what parents see, and how we suggest a batch afterwards.

Every child who joins Chukki starts with a free 60-minute trial class on a Saturday. It helps us suggest the right batch, and it lets your child see whether they enjoy the place before you pay anything. Here is what to expect.

Arrive ten minutes early at the Jayanagar centre. A mentor greets your child, notes their age and what they like, and puts them in a small group of six to eight children of similar age. Parents can sit in the back of the room or wait in the lounge downstairs with tea.

The first half hour is hands-on. Younger children usually build a simple moving robot from a kit and program it to follow a line, or make a star wheel to find constellations. Older children might wire an LED circuit on a breadboard or learn to point and focus a telescope on the rooftop. Our mentors watch how each child approaches the task: whether they read instructions, try things out, ask for help or help others.

The second half is for questions and a short look at the next step. On a clear evening, trial classes from 5 pm end on the rooftop with a look at the Moon or a planet. After the class, the mentor spends five minutes with you. They suggest a batch, explain the timings and fees, and answer questions about laptops or instalments. There is no pressure to sign up that day. If your child would rather try a different course first, book another trial on a later Saturday.
