The studio

A teak floor, a mirror wall and a guru who still practises daily.

Our founder, Revathi, trained for 14 years before her first student. She teaches with two senior dancers in a first-floor studio off 11th Main, Jayanagar, with a sprung floor that is kind to knees.

What age can my child start?

From five. Children younger than that usually find the 60-minute class too long; we suggest waiting a few months.

What should students wear?

A cotton practice saree or salwar for Bharatanatyam, and comfortable clothes for contemporary. No footwear on the floor.

How long before an arangetram?

Usually seven to nine years of regular classes. We assess each student and agree a date together.

Are there exams?

Yes, for those who want them. We prepare students for the state board junior and senior grade exams.
