What a wedding flower budget pays for in Pune
Varmala, gajra, mandap and car: a line-by-line costing for a typical wedding and how to save.
Couples who visit our studio usually ask one question first: what should we budget for flowers? The honest answer depends on the venue and the flowers, but most Pune weddings we do fall between ₹45,000 and ₹2,50,000. Here is how a mid-range wedding adds up.
The personal flowers are the smallest part. A varmala pair in marigold, roses and shevanti is ₹4,800, and fresh mogra gajra for the bride and six family members comes to about ₹2,200. Bouquets for the parents add ₹3,000. Car decoration with roses and gerberas on the bonnet and doors costs ₹6,500 to ₹9,000.
The mandap takes most of the money. A simple mandap with marigold strings, four pillars wrapped in roses and a flower backdrop starts at ₹35,000. Using orchids, carnations or imported hydrangea can take it past ₹1,20,000. Entrance arches and stage flowers for the reception add ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 more.
To save, choose flowers that are in season locally: marigold, shevanti, gerbera and roses from Maval cost a fraction of imported stems and hold up better in heat.
