Shots, duration, height and colour: what the numbers printed on a cracker box tell you about the show.

Sky shots are the boxes customers ask us about most, and the printed details on them are worth reading carefully. Here is how to make sense of a box before you add it to your order.
The first number is the shots: 12, 30, 60, 120 or more. Each shot is one tube that fires once, so the count tells you how many bursts you will see. The second is the duration. Our colour sky shots fire 30 shots in about 50 seconds; the Pachai fires 60 in two and a half minutes; the Mayil fires 120 in five minutes. Longer duration for the same number of shots means slower, more spaced-out bursts, which look better in a small courtyard.
Then look at height and effect. A box may say the shots rise 20 or 30 metres and open into peacock gold, green and silver, or crackle. If you have coconut trees or overhead wires near your house, smaller boxes that rise lower are a better choice than a big 120-shot. Read the base size too; a wide, heavy base stands steady on uneven ground.
Finally, check the handling notes printed on every box: the distance to stand back, the instruction to place on flat ground, and the warning not to hold it. These are not decoration. If you are unsure which box suits your space, send us a photo of your courtyard on WhatsApp, with the trees and the roof line in view, and we will suggest two or three that fit.
