The label tells you who made a cracker and what mix it uses. Here is what that changes, and what it does not.

What ₹1,500, ₹3,500 and ₹7,000 buy at our counter, for a small flat, a family house and a courtyard full of cousins.

Before Vishu, families often ask us what they should spend. There is no right answer, but here are three orders we pack often, using our current prices.
Around ₹1,500 suits a flat, a balcony or a family with small children. Three boxes of 15 cm kambithiri at ₹86, two boxes of small kambithiri at ₹44, one box of big mathappu at ₹350, one box of nilachakram at ₹260 and a box of ola padakkam at ₹180 come to about ₹1,350, with room for one more box of sparklers. This is enough for a good half hour after the kani.
Around ₹3,500 suits a family house with a front yard. Our Vishu family box of 45 items is ₹3,450 and covers everything from kambithiri to a small sky shot. Families who prefer to choose often take five boxes of kambithiri, two of mathappu, two of colour koti, a maalappadakkam 1000 at ₹620 and a 30-shot sky box at ₹1,240.
Around ₹7,000 is for a tharavadu courtyard with cousins and neighbours. Take the family box, add the Pachai 60-shot at ₹2,600 and a box of vaanam at ₹390, and a few extra kambithiri, since they always run out first. Remember that delivery is free in Kochi corporation only above ₹2,500; for small orders, collecting from Kacheripady saves the transport charge. Whatever the budget, we suggest spending at least a third on kambithiri and mathappu. They are what children remember.
