How much space each person needs, and how big your room has to be.

The most common mistake we see is a table that is too big for the room. A dining table needs space around it to pull chairs back and walk behind someone seated. Allow at least 90 cm between the table edge and the wall or the next piece of furniture.
For each person at the table, allow about 60 cm of edge. A 183 cm table seats three on each long side comfortably, six in all. Add one at each end if the table is at least 90 cm wide. A 150 cm table is good for four, or six at a squeeze.
Round tables suit square rooms and small families. A 120 cm round table seats four easily and lets everyone talk to everyone. For six, you need 140 cm or more.
Before ordering, mark the table size on your floor with newspaper or masking tape and live with it for a day. Walk around it, pull out an imaginary chair. If it feels tight, it will feel tighter with furniture. Bring the measurements to the workshop and we will draw the table in your room for you.
