Who we are

Teak furniture, joined by hand and made to outlast us.

Uli Furniture Co. began in 1998 when Joseph and his two brothers took over their father’s workshop. We buy teak logs at the Nilambur auctions, air-dry them for two years in our yard and cut every joint by hand.

Dining tables, chairs and cabinets in seasoned Nilambur teak, made with mortise and tenon joints in our Mattancherry workshop. Visit the workshop with your room size and we make a scaled drawing and a quote within three days, free of charge.

What we stand for

Three things we will not change

01

Seasoned wood only

Teak that is not dry will crack in a Kerala monsoon. Ours air-dries for two years before it is cut.

02

Joints, not screws

Load-bearing joints are mortise and tenon or dovetail, cut by hand and glued, never screwed.

03

Repair for life

Bring back any piece we made and we will re-polish, re-cane or re-glue it at cost.

Bring your measurements. We will draw it for you.

Visit the workshop with your room size and we make a scaled drawing and a quote within three days, free of charge.

I visited on a Saturday and saw my sideboard being made. It feels different, knowing who built it.

Twelve years on, our cane chairs have been re-caned once and the frames are perfect.
