Using the summer before Class 11 well

Six weeks between Class 10 results and the start of intermediate: a simple plan that helps without burning out.

The summer between Class 10 board exams and the start of Class 11 is one of the few real breaks students get in four years. Families often ask whether it should be spent resting or starting coaching early. Our advice is to do a bit of both, with a plan.

Take the first two or three weeks off completely. Students who go straight from board exams into heavy study often arrive in June already tired. Sleep properly, visit family, play a sport, read for pleasure. This time is not wasted; it is the rest that makes the next two years possible.

In the last three or four weeks, start gently with the foundations. For MPC students, revise Class 9 and 10 algebra, trigonometry and the basics of motion, which Class 11 builds on immediately. For BiPC students, revise cell biology, basic chemistry and the units and measurements chapter of physics. One to two hours a day is enough. Our new batches start on 2 June, and students who have revised these topics settle in noticeably faster.

Also use the summer to set up habits that are hard to start later: a regular waking time, a study corner at home with good light and no phone, and a daily walk or game. Parents can help by agreeing on screen time rules now rather than in the middle of the year. If you want to see how our classes work before June, the Sunday demo class runs right through the summer.
