Drop-in or membership: which works out cheaper

Single classes, the monthly unlimited plan and the three-month plan compared, with the number of classes where each pays off.

We keep our pricing simple, but people still ask which option makes sense for them. Here is the arithmetic.

Drop-in classes cost ₹300 to ₹550 depending on the class: ₹300 for the Sunday meditation circle, ₹350 for pranayama, ₹450 for hatha and stretch and mobility, ₹500 for vinyasa and ₹550 for strength for yogis. You pay only when you come, and you can book up to a week ahead.

The unlimited monthly membership is ₹3,600. If you mostly take hatha at ₹450, it pays for itself at the eighth class, which is twice a week. With vinyasa at ₹500 it also pays off at the eighth class, and with strength for yogis at ₹550, at the seventh. Most members who come three times a week spend under ₹300 a class on membership, against ₹450 to ₹550 on drop-ins. The three-month plan is ₹9,900, or ₹3,300 a month, and suits people who already know they will keep coming. There are no contracts beyond the period you pay for, and you can pause either membership for up to 30 days a year when you travel.

Our suggestion: start with the free first class and a few drop-ins over two or three weeks. If you find yourself coming twice a week or more, switch to the monthly plan. Move to three months once the habit has held for a couple of months. We never call members to push an upgrade.
