Who we are
Objects that hold the light.
Architect Kavya Shah started Shila Studio in 2016 with two carpenters. Today 18 people work in our Naroda shed: joiners, a brass spinner, a leather stitcher and a gilder. Every piece is drawn first at full size.
Lamps, tables and chairs drawn and made in our Ahmedabad workshop, in teak, brass, marble and cane. Our Bodakdev showroom stays open till 9 pm so you can see every lamp switched on, as it will be at home. Book a slot and we will keep coffee ready.

What we stand for
Three things we will not change
Solid materials
Solid teak, real brass, honed marble and vegetable-tanned leather. Nothing is a veneer pretending to be wood.
Made near you
Everything is made in our Naroda workshop, 14 km from the showroom. You can visit and see your piece being made.
Repairable
Joints are glued and pinned, not stapled, and we keep spare parts for every lamp we have made.
Visit the studio after dark.
