Once a year for most adults and every child, and sooner if anything changes.

Most people visit an optician when their glasses break. By then, their prescription has often changed, and they have been squinting for months without noticing.
For adults under 40 with no eye conditions, a test every one to two years is sensible. After 40, when near vision begins to change, once a year is better. People with diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of glaucoma should follow the schedule their doctor gives them.
Children need a test before they start school and then every year. A child rarely complains about blurred vision; they simply assume everyone sees the board the way they do. Signs to watch for are sitting very close to the television, rubbing the eyes, tilting the head, or falling behind in reading.
At Nazar, a routine test takes about 25 minutes. We check how well you see at distance and near, measure your prescription, check eye pressure and look at the front of the eye. If anything needs a doctor’s attention, we refer you and explain why in writing.
