Cottage, sea-view room or pool villa: which to book

Who each of our room types suits best, from honeymooners to grandparents, and the small differences that matter on the day.

We have 22 rooms in four types, and the question we answer most often on the phone is which one to book. The right choice depends less on budget than on how you like to spend a beach holiday. Here is how we would describe each.

The sea-facing cottages, at ₹6,800 a night for two, are closest to the sand, 40 m along a shaded path. They are built of laterite stone and wood, with a sit-out facing the sea and an open-air shower in a small walled garden. They suit couples and friends who will be in and out of the water all day. They are at ground level, which suits grandparents too, though the path to them is sandy.

The sea-view rooms, at ₹8,200, are on the first floor, reached by a short flight of stairs. Each has a full-width balcony over the dunes, and from November to February the sun sets straight ahead. They are the quietest rooms, and the best choice for readers, nappers and anyone who wants a view without the sand underfoot.

The plunge pool villas, at ₹14,500, are walled and private, each with its own small pool and deck. Honeymooners book them most, but they also suit anyone who wants complete privacy or a pool without children. The family suites, at ₹11,800, have two connected rooms for up to four, next to the lawn and the shallow end of the main pool. They are what we recommend for families with children under ten. Whatever you choose, breakfast is included, and the beach is open to every guest.
