Hot desk or dedicated desk: which suits you

How often you come in, what you leave behind and how you take calls decide it.

A hot desk gives you any open seat in the shared hall. It suits people who come in three or four days a week, carry a laptop and do not need to leave anything behind. It is also the cheapest monthly option.

A dedicated desk is yours alone. You can leave a monitor, a keyboard and files overnight, and your chair is set the way you like it. If you come in every day, or work with a large screen, the extra cost is usually worth it.

Think about calls. If you spend more than two hours a day on video, you will use the phone booths and meeting rooms often. Dedicated desks include more meeting-room credit for that reason.

The simplest way to decide is to try both. Take a free day pass, then a hot desk for a month. If you find yourself arriving early to get the same seat, it is time for a dedicated desk.
