Satin, gloss or matte: choosing a wrap finish

How each finish looks on Chennai roads, how it ages and how much care it needs, before you commit to a ₹85,000 wrap.

A full colour wrap with us costs about ₹85,000 for a medium car and takes four to five days. Choosing the colour is the fun part. Choosing the finish matters as much, because it changes how the car looks every day and how much care it needs.

Gloss wraps look closest to paint. They reflect light sharply, hide small marks well and are the easiest to wash. They show swirls if washed carelessly, much like paint. Most customers who want a colour change without anyone noticing it is a wrap choose gloss.

Satin wraps have a soft sheen, somewhere between gloss and matte. They show the shape of the body well, with gentle highlights along the lines of the car. They hide dust better than gloss and do not show swirls, but cannot be polished, so scratches stay. Satin grey, dark green and deep blue are our most popular wraps.

Matte wraps have no reflection at all and look striking, but need the most care. Bird droppings and fuel stains must be cleaned at once, oils from hands leave marks, and you must use matte-specific shampoo. Never wax or polish a matte wrap. In Chennai’s sun, any wrap lasts about four to six years outdoors, a little longer if the car is parked under cover. Lighter colours age better than dark ones in strong sun. We bring sample swatches to your car in the bay, so you can see each one outdoors before you decide.
