Do not get a new style the week before. Here is the timeline our barbers use.

Every wedding season we meet a groom who tried a new style four days before the muhurtham and did not like it. Hair needs time to settle after a big change, so plan backwards from the date.
Six weeks out, decide the style. If you want something different, get it cut now so you live with it for a while. Four weeks out, start the beard if you are growing one, and book your trial.
Ten days out is the trial: the cut, beard shape and face clean-up done exactly as on the day. This is also when we take photos in the light your photographer will use, so you can see how it looks on camera. If anything needs changing, there is time.
The day before, or the morning itself, is the final visit. We tidy the cut rather than take off length, line up the beard with a fresh blade, and send you home with the right amount of product in a small tub. If the function starts early, we can come to your house or the hall. Tell your family the time, so nobody books the barber chair for another cousin at the same hour.
