The yard

A 6-acre yard in Autonagar, a few kilometres from the port.

Ukku started in 2006 with four welders building trusses for local mills. Today 210 people design, cut, weld, blast and paint in our Autonagar yard, and our own erection crews put the steel up on site with cranes we own.

How do you price a steel building?

By the weight of steel, the roofing area and the erection work. A plain warehouse shed usually works out to ₹1,800–2,600 a sq ft including roofing, depending on span and height.

Do you prepare the design?

Yes. Our engineers design the structure for your loads and site, and issue drawings for approval. We can also work to your consultant’s design.

Do you do the foundations?

We provide the anchor bolt layout and loads. Your civil contractor builds the foundations, and we check the bolts before erection.

How long does a project take?

A 2,000 sq m shed takes about 10–12 weeks from approved drawings to handover. Fabrication-only jobs are faster.
