Choosing a Pune venue when you want fireworks

Lawns, banquet halls, farmhouses and rooftops: what each kind of venue allows and what to ask before you sign.

The venue decides what fireworks are possible, so it is worth asking before you pay the deposit, not after. Here is what we see across Pune’s common venue types.

Open lawns, like many on the Sinhagad Road, Baner and Wagholi side, are the most flexible. Most allow aerials if there is 30 to 40 m of clear space away from the stage and parking, and no overhead wires or tall trees in the way. Ask the venue for its fireworks rules in writing, the latest time they allow noise, and whether another event is booked on the next lawn the same night.

Banquet halls almost never allow aerial fireworks indoors. Cold-spark machines are usually fine with prior permission and a ceiling above 4 m, and some halls have a courtyard or terrace where a short ground show is possible. Ask whether smoke will set off the fire alarm and who resets it.

Farmhouses around Lonavala, Mulshi and the Saswad road have space, but check the access road for our van, the distance to dry grass and the nearest houses. In the dry months before the monsoon, we may suggest fountains in place of aerials near grassland. Hotel rooftops look striking in photos but are tight; most allow only cold sparks. Whatever the venue, send us the address and a few photos of the space, and we will tell you on the phone what will work before you book the site visit.
