A Diwali budget for a family of five

What ₹2,500, ₹5,000 and ₹10,000 buy for one evening, with children, grandparents and a small courtyard.

Most families who come to our shop have a figure in mind before they walk in. Here is how we usually spend it for a family of five with two children, lighting at home on Diwali night. Prices are from our current list.

With ₹2,500, keep it on the ground and in the hand. Two boxes of 10 cm gold sparklers and two boxes of 30 cm colour sparklers come to about ₹470. Add two boxes of big flower pots at ₹680, one box of ground chakkars at ₹260 and one box of colour koti at ₹420. That is about ₹1,830, leaving room for a box of whistling rockets at ₹320 and a few extras for Bhai Dooj. This mix gives about forty minutes of lighting, most of it safe for children with an adult beside them.

With ₹5,000, start from the ₹2,500 list and add a gold crackling 12-shot at ₹520, a box of electric sparklers at ₹240 and our Nawabi gift box of 30 items at ₹1,950. That covers Diwali night and a second smaller evening.

With ₹10,000, add one multicolour 60-shot at ₹2,650 as the finale, a second Nawabi box and more flower pots for the grandparents to light. At this level, a family pack of 60 items at ₹4,400 often works out cheaper than buying piece by piece. Send us your budget on WhatsApp and we will suggest a mix in the same way, before you visit.
