Our kitchen

Peddamma’s recipes, still written in her notebook.

Our grandmother, Peddamma to everyone on the street, sold her first avakaya to neighbours in 1986. Her recipes are in a Telugu notebook that still sits on the kitchen shelf. Six women from our colony make every batch by hand, and taste it before it is sealed.

What customers say

Sample reviews, written for this demo. Real customer reviews replace them on your store.

It tastes exactly like my mother’s avakaya in Guntur. I order four jars every June for us in Pune.

Questions

Before you order

Answers to what customers ask us most. More on the questions page.

Why is there so much oil on top?

The layer of oil keeps air out and stops the pickle from spoiling. Keep the pieces under the oil and always use a dry spoon.

Do your pickles have preservatives?

No. Salt, oil and chilli preserve them, as they always have. No vinegar, sodium benzoate or added colour.

How hot are they?

Andhra pickles are hot. Avakaya is the hottest; nimmakaya is mild. We can make a less spicy batch for orders of 2 kg or more.

How should I store pickle?

At room temperature in a dry place, lid tight. Only the fresh green chilli pickle needs the fridge.
