A birthday party at the Monsoon Express
How our kids’ quest works for birthdays: ages, timings, food and what parents do while children play.
The Monsoon Express is the only room we built for children, and most weekends it hosts two or three birthday parties. It is designed for ages 8 to 13: bright, noisy, with colour and pattern puzzles rather than maths, and a game host inside the room with the children the whole time.
A party package runs for two hours. The first 15 minutes are a briefing in the lounge, where the host tells the story of a train that must reach the hill station before a storm. Then up to six children play the 45-minute quest. For bigger parties, the second group plays The Lost Stepwell at the same time, with a second host.
After the game, the children come back to the lounge for cake and food. You can bring your own cake and snacks, or we can order from a bakery nearby. Parents wait in the lounge with tea and can watch the game on a screen.
A party for up to 12 children costs ₹11,500 on weekends, including both rooms, the hosts and the lounge. Each child goes home with a printed team photo and a small brass key. Book at least two weeks ahead. Saturday afternoons in October and November fill fastest, around Diwali and the school breaks.
