Tips from our game hosts

What the hosts watching the cameras wish every team knew: six habits of teams that escape.

Our game hosts watch hundreds of teams a month. When we asked them what separates teams that escape from teams that do not, they agreed on six habits.

Search properly before solving. Teams who spend the first ten minutes opening every drawer and reading every note solve faster later. Teams who jump at the first lock often miss the clue for it.

Keep found items in one place. A table or a corner where every key, card and note goes means nobody holds a vital clue in a pocket.

Say what you see out loud. Read numbers, colours and symbols to the room. Somebody else may be looking at the lock that matches.

Do not force things. If something needs strength, it is probably not part of the puzzle. Everything in our rooms opens with a code, a key or a trick.

Split up, then regroup. Two people on one puzzle, two on another, then share every few minutes. Teams who stay in one huddle run out of time.

Ask for a hint early. Being stuck for ten minutes on one lock loses the game more often than any single hard puzzle. Our hints are free, and a well-timed one keeps the whole hour enjoyable.
