Who we are
Oil pressed slowly in a wooden chekku, the old way.
Selvaraj began pressing oil for his village in 1994 with one bullock chekku. His daughter Kavitha runs the mill now with two motor-driven wooden chekkus, still turning at bullock speed, and buys groundnut and sesame from 70 farmers around Salem and Attur.
Groundnut, gingelly and coconut oil pressed in vaagai-wood chekkus at 6 rpm, settled in the sun for three days and bottled without filtering or heat. Bring 10 kg or more of shelled groundnut or sesame to the mill and take home your own oil the same day. ₹28 a kg.

What we stand for
Three things we will not change
Slow and cool
The chekku turns at 6 rpm and the oil stays under 45 °C, so nothing is cooked out of it.
Dated, not stocked
We press every week, print the date on every bottle, and never sell oil older than 3 months.
Seed you can see
Visit the mill and watch your oil pressed from the same groundnuts on the floor.

Bring your own groundnuts. We press them for you.

The groundnut oil smells like my grandmother’s kitchen. My murukku tastes right again.
I took 20 kg of our own groundnuts to the mill and came back with oil the same afternoon.
The gingelly oil in glass bottles arrived in Chennai well packed and dated the week before.
